This week I'm talking about baby registries because there are SO many baby products out there. What all does a new mom really need?!

Allow me to help! This episode highlights my 10 baby registry must-haves for new parents. I've included a few "nice to haves" too!

LISTEN ON: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Amazon Music | Pandora | Any Player

  1. Bassinet: I loved the Halo Bassinest Swivel Sleeper!
  2. Muslin swaddles: Great for swaddling/keeping warm/burping/keeping sun out of baby's eyes in the car or at park. We still use many of these today as a light summer blanket!
  3. Baby monitor: A reliable baby monitor helps new moms keep an eye on their little one while they are in a different room. I recommend choosing a monitor with video monitoring, temperature display, and two-way communication. There are so many kinds. Ours is Infant Optics and we LOVE it!
  4. Stroller and car seat: Look for models that are easy to use, maneuverable, and offer good storage space. Get multiple bases. I suggest two. My preferred combo was the Chicco Bravo 3-in-1 Trio Travel System with KeyFit 30 infant car seat and base.
  5. Pack n Play: Great for traveling, visiting friends, keeping baby contained. The model we used was similar to this one.
  6. Baby bottles and bottle accessories: Even if you plan to breastfeed, having a set of bottles on hand is super helpful. Register for a few different types and sizes to see what works best for your baby. We loved Phillip's Avent because you can find it everywhere and it was reasonably priced. Don't forget the Boon Lawn drying rack too!
  7. Diapers and wipes: You're gonna need LOTS of these! Consider registering for a variety of sizes, as babies grow quickly. My favorite wipes are WaterWipes and Mama Bear.
  8. Baby carrier or sling: A baby carrier allows new moms to keep their hands free while keeping baby close. I loved the LILLEbaby carrier and the Baby K'tan wrap.
  9. Baby swing or bouncer: My daughter loved the exersaucer! You can save a few bucks by finding them second-hand on FB marketplace or kids consignment stores like Once Upon a Child or Kid to Kid.
  10. Baby healthcare essentials: Include items like a digital thermometer, nasal aspirator (Nose Frida is a must!), baby nail clippers (I used an electric file), and a baby healthcare kit with essentials like a brush, comb, and toothbrush. These items will help you take care of your baby's health and hygiene.

And here are a few nice-to-have registry items!

  1. Baby bathtub: A specially designed baby bathtub makes bath time safe and convenient. Look for one that provides support for newborns and has features like a non-slip surface or a built-in thermometer. I really liked this one by Angelcare.
  2. Baby clothes: Register for a variety of baby clothes in different sizes. Consider including onesies, sleepers, socks, hats, and mittens. Look for clothes made from comfortable and easy-to-clean fabrics. Remember, baby clothes soil quickly, so I'm an advocate for checking out your local kids consignment shops for gently used clothes at a fraction of the price.
  3. High chair or booster seat: As your baby grows, they will eventually start solid foods. Register for a high chair or a portable booster seat that can be attached to a regular chair, making mealtime more convenient. This high chair folds up so easily!
  4. Breastfeeding essentials: If planning to breastfeed, essential items include a breast pump, storage bottles or bags, nursing bras, and nursing pads. A comfortable nursing pillow can also provide support during feeding sessions. Don't forget check out episode #10 where I cover my breastfeeding must-haves!

While the above list covers essential items for babies, every new mom's needs and preferences may vary. It's a good idea to consult with experienced parents, read reviews, and consider your own lifestyle when creating a baby registry. Did I miss a must-have? Tell me about it in the comments below!
