This week I'm talking about breech babies and some helpful tips for getting baby head down.

This episode is chock full of tried and true strategies. My baby girl was breech twice and I used nearly all of these methods to safely and naturally turn her BOTH times.

If you find out that your baby is in the breech position, meaning their head is up and their bottom or feet are down instead of the head down position, it's important to speak with your healthcare provider to discuss your options. Here are some of the things that you can do:

  1. Wait and see.
  2. External cephalic version (ECV).
  3. Planned C-section.

I was VERY determined to proceed with an unmedicated natural birth in one of the local birthing centers, so the midwives shared a few ideas I could try to turn her. They also pointed me to the Spinning Babies website for more options. See below for several of the natural methods I used to successfully flip my daughter head down.

  1. Pelvic tilts.
  2. Exercise and yoga.
  3. Music and light.
  4. Acupuncture and moxibustion.
  5. Chiropractic care, specifically the Webster Technique.
  6. Handstands in a pool.
  7. Hot and cold - ice pack and heating pad.

Listen to the episode in full for details on each option.

While these worked for me, it's important to remember that every pregnancy is different, and what works for one woman may not work for another. The most important thing is to communicate with your healthcare provider and discuss your options for delivery. They will be able to provide you with the best advice and guidance based on your individual circumstances. Remember that not all babies will turn, and in some cases, a breech baby may require a planned C-section delivery.

Did I miss a method you recommend? Was your baby breech? Drop me a hello in the comments!
